Our top things to do in New York City - Biscuiteers

If you're anything like us, and have dreamed of escaping to New York either for a Carrie Bradshaw style shopping spree, joining the Mad Men at a NY high-rise or catching a coffee in Central Perk, then here are our top things to do whilst visiting the Big Apple, taking inspiration from our New York Biscuit Collection...

  1. Visit the Empire State Building
Start by getting the best views over the city. The Empire State observation deck boasts spectacular 360 degree views over New York's dazzling skyline. Splurge on tickets for the 102nd floor 'top deck' and embrace your inner King Kong. The tower looks particularly spectacular during key holidays, where the top 30 floors are illuminated by coloured light.
  2. Drinks with a View

For a great roof top drink head to Ides rooftop bar at the Wyeth Hotel in Williamsburg. The art deco bar has unobstructed views of Manhattan and the Hudson river.
3. Visit the Green lady
No trip to New York is complete without visiting the city's most iconic monument; the Statue of Liberty. The lady of liberty stands 151 ft tall and has been welcoming people to America's shores since 1886. Make a day of the journey and catch a ferry from Battery Park to Ellis Island. This was the first point of entry for several million immigrants from 1892-1954. The museum here has enlightening guided tours and an wide collection of documents and photographs.
4. Grab a cwoffee; New York style
Coffee in New York has come a long way since Anthora, the coffee shop responsible for the classic blue and white cup. If you plan to visit Queens, don't leave without visiting The Queens Kickshaw, which serves unforgettable grilled cheese sandwiches as well as first class coffee and hot chocolate by artisan duo, the Mast Brothers.
5. Enjoy New York's favourite quick bite
Have you heard about Katz's Deli? Remember the scene where Meg Ryan 'fakes-it' in 'When Harry met Sally'? Yep, that's filmed at Katz's. This old school delicatessen has been serving the Lower East Side since 1888 when their main diners were Europeans who spoke little, or no English. Now, the bustling atmosphere and part Yiddish menu, is the best place to sample everything from pastrami and hot-dogs to challa. A national institution. Zaier gut!
6. Catch a musical on Broadway
Marvel at Times Square's 24-hour light spectacle, and watch a show on America's Great White Way. If you've already caught up on your musicals in the West End, try the edgier 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' featuring music by U2's Bono, which has become a major fascination for the NY public. For Broadway tickets at 25-50% of the price, we recommend using the 'TKTS' booths located around Times Square.

Our favourite areas

1. The High Line
The High Line is one of the world's most unusual parks. Once an abandoned elevated railway, now a meticulously planted urban oasis, which was only unveiled in 2009. If you're around on a Tuesday night, grab one of the telescopes positioned so you can explore the heavens above.

2. Greenwich Village

The "Village" is the cosmopolitan stomping ground. Quiet cobbled lanes meander between brown-brick town houses, tree lined avenues, cute coffee houses and bookshops to beat the band. When you become tired of strolling, plonk yourself down at a local coffee joint, the perfect place for people watching.

We’ve had lots of fun capturing The City That Never Sleeps in cookie dough. So much so, that we've created a biscuit collection filled with coffee-to-go, hot dogs, a yellow cab and NYC's iconic buildings including the Empire State and the Statue of Liberty. What’s more, they come bursting out of a suitably stylish tin, just the place to put your old subway tickets! Remember to check out our top things to do in Paris and Venice.
We heart New York!
