How to make biscuit wedding favours
to start:
Begin by baking your biscuits using our easy vanilla dough recipe, and then using a bell and car cutter, cut out as many biscuits as you can. These cutter shapes are available online.
You'll then need to bake your biscuits for 15-20 minutes at 170°C . Using our easy guide, create your line and flood icing. You’ll need to make six different colours; white and grey for the flood and white, black, pink and green for the line icing. You'll also need some edible silver balls for your bells too!
Pour the line icing into four icing bags and you’ll need two squeezy bottles for the flood icing.
for the bells:
- Once the biscuits have completely cooled down you can now begin icing.
- Using your white line icing, pipe the outline of the bell and leave to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature.
- Fill the bell in with your white flood icing. Be careful not to over fill!
- Pop the biscuits back onto a baking tray and into the oven on the lowest temperature for 40 minutes. Don’t worry, your biscuits wont bake any further, this just helps to dry the icing.
Once the biscuits are dry it's time to add the details. Carefully ice a line across the bottom of the bell, finishing off with a bow.
Then ice a dot at the bottom of the bell and place an edible silver ball. Leave to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature.for the cars:Once your car biscuits have cooled, using the image above as a guide, ice the outline of the car and then the window and tires. Leave to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature.
After the line icing has set, you'll need to fill in the car. Start off by using white flood icing to fill in your biscuit, then using the grey flood icing fill in the window and then finish off the car tires by using black line icing
Place the biscuits back onto a baking tray and into the oven on the lowest temperature for 40 minutes. Don’t worry, your biscuits wont bake any further, it just helps to dry the flood icing.
After the icing has dried, you'll need to add the details to the car. Start off by outlining the window with white line icing to add a frame, then still using the white line icing pipe a rectangle underneath - this is where the 'just married' writing will go. Add decoration of little green polka dots and pink bow streamers.
Ice 'just married' into the rectangle box using your black line icing, we have created a blog post on writing with royal icing to help with the techniques of this.
Leave to dry at room temperature for 10-20 minutes to ensure they're dry. Then, enjoy!
