Each hand-iced confection is an ode to the lavishness and allure that characterize Bridgerton

What inspired the Bridgerton biscuit designs?
I wanted the designs to be a classical revival, to have the same charm and romance that Bridgerton portrays. I began researching Regency style, focusing on women's fashion and dresses which feature an abundance of fabric, ruffles, bows and embroidery. I found ‘costume’ accessories were an important status symbol for this period, this inspired our use of a decorative fan and fascinator for the biscuit designs. I also wanted to capture old fashioned elegance in designs such as the hand mirror and quill.

Complete tea sets were a significant part of the traditional afternoon tea experience during the Regency era and this was something we wanted to portray. I was inspired by decorative tea sets from the 1800s, particularly the gold edging and intricate swirls, when designing our biscuit tea set.

I found more detailed inspiration within the ‘Inside Bridgerton’ book. Looking through every page I highlighted images that inspired me, such as the decorative china on tea sets, intricate patterns on dresses and fans, and specific flowers in floral displays.
What did the biscuit design process look like?
The design process starts digitally, working through the outline, flood and detail stages on the computer. We can adjust shapes and flood colours, experiment with detail options and techniques before baking a single biscuit!

The Bridgerton team walked us through the colour palette from the new season of the show, this incorporated lilac and blue tones which I then matched this to our icing shades to create a cohesive palette for the biscuit tin. The colours we decided on are a mix of gentle, floral tones like purple, pink and soft green, and rich shades representing a royal classiness like burgundy and black. We also have hints of gold throughout which adds a warmth and touch of grandeur.

Once the digital designs were signed off, I made physical samples to test the designs. Since the visuals of the Bridgerton biscuit tin are highly adorned I had to ensure the designs were still achievable to hand ice by our production team. I concentrated on keeping the biscuit base simple with flooding, so more time could be spent on the final detailing phase. Flowers, swirls, jewels and feathers are all effective ways we created attractive embellished designs.
How did you and the team choose the final designs?
We worked closely with Netflix and Shondaland throughout the designing stage, especially at the beginning. We had so many different options that needed to be whittled down to 13 biscuits.

Wisteria is a focal symbol from the series so we knew we wanted to include this. Wisteria wallpaper patterns provided by Bridgerton were a main point of inspiration. I decided on a cluster of two wisteria, using it to frame the top layer of the biscuit tin. Beautiful purple wisteria covers every corner of the Bridgerton house so I knew this would be the perfect introduction to the tin.

We had a few iterations of the Lady Whistledown biscuit, eventually deciding on the silhouette. The simple design has an air of mystery and elegance which match Whistledown’s papers in the series, a thread of secrecy throughout the story. The presence of this important figure with the adjacent quill design is a significant concept I just had to include.

An obvious choice right from the start was Queen Charlotte's iconic wig, it wouldn’t be Bridgerton without it! It was difficult to select just one wig as there are so many, all magnificent sculptures in their own eccentric way. I created a few options in different colours (ivory, pink and purple) with various hairstyles, curls and decorations on top. With the help of the team at Netflix and Shondaland we decided Queen Charlotte's impressive grey wig was the best fit, so I translated this to our (much smaller!) biscuit version.

So there you have it, the story behind our diamond of the season has been told. Should you or a loved one want to enjoy our Regency-inspired Bridgerton biscuits, the collection is available to purchase online and in our Biscuit Boutiques now.

Yours truly, Biscuiteers.
