Knowing how to write with royal icing is not as tricky as it looks! If you're wondering how to achieve perfect writing on your biscuits, here are some helpful tips so you can make your very own personalised biscuits at home!We've been putting our skills to the test with these Autumn inspired biscuits but you can apply the same methods on any biscuit design, think snowflakes for winter, Easter eggs for spring and beach balls for summer! Why not go the extra mile and make biscuits for your wedding favours or as edible place settings!Practice makes perfect:1) Create your royal icing using our super easy flood and line icing recipe as a guide. Make sure your icing is the right consistency so that it flows evenly from the piping bag. **Hint** it should be the consistency of toothpaste.
2) We always practise the style of writing we want to achieve on parchment paper first. Print off letters and use this as a guide. This enables you to become familiar with using a piping bag and controlling the flow of icing. Use the guide until you are confident with the piping bag.

2) Position the tip of your icing bag as near to the biscuit as possible. Be careful not to drag your bag through the other icing on the biscuit. Only apply pressure on the bag when the nib is touching the biscuit.
3) If you have a lot of writing to add on the biscuit start from the middle, this will be helpful when thinking about spacing.
1) Cut the top of your piping bag off. Make sure the cut is very small to ensure you have a fine line, you can always cut more if it's too thin, so start small. If you don't feel comfortable with just using a ping bag use a fine piping nozzle (we recommend the No.1)
