How to ice Valentine's day biscuits

Its February, the month of true love and our bakery is full of hearts, love birds and biscuit marriage proposals (yes!) One of our favourite collections of the season, our Love Birds tin will set any heart a flutter. And just for our blog readers, we’ve created a step-by-step icing guide so you can try learning how to ice Valentine's day biscuits at home. How to ice our love bird:
1. Start off by baking your biscuits using our easy vanilla dough recipe, we like to use a dove shaped biscuit cutter to create this bird shape. Your biscuits will then need to be baked for 15-20 minutes at 170°C or until golden brown. Then using our easy step by step guide, create your line and flood icing. You'll need to make four different colours; light pink, fuchsia, white and black. Pour the line icing into four icing bags and you'll need three squeezy bottles for the flood icing.
2. Once the biscuits have completely cooled you can start icing. Using your fuchsia line icing, pipe the outline of the bird and leave to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature. Using the image above as a guide, fill the bird in with light pink, white and fuchsia flood icing.  Pop the biscuits back onto a baking tray and into the oven on the lowest temperature for 40 minutes. Don’t worry, your biscuits wont bake any further.
3. Using your line icing, add the details on to your biscuit. You'll need black for the eyes, beak and the little feet.  In the light pink area of the biscuit we've piped a sausage shaped  on the wing in hot pink and again in light pink on the body of the bird. Then interchanging between white and hot pink dots to add further detail, to finish we've followed the same design on the rest of the wing. We're using the design from our love birds biscuit tin, but feel free to create whatever pattern you'd like!

4. Let the line icing dry for 10 minutes or until the icing is completely hard.
How to ice our love heart biscuits:
1. Use our easy guide to create turquoise flood and line icing, as mentioned above add the line icing into an icing bag and the flood icing into a squeezy bottle. Pipe an outline of a heart shape around the edge of your biscuit using your line icing. Wait 10 minutes for this to dry and then fill your biscuit with the flood turquoise icing. Pop into the oven to dry on the lowest temperature possible for around 40 minutes or until the icing is completely dry. 2. Using gold lustre dust lightly brush the biscuit until you have the desired golden effect.
3. Using the same fuchsia line icing from your love bird biscuits, ice a heart near towards the edge of your biscuit. Complete by using your line icing to create a white scalloped boarder  and light pink tear drop shapes in the centre of the heart, take your time with this to ensure it looks neat! Again, we've followed the design from our tin but feel free to change up the design or you could even write your valentine's name inside!
