Vroom! Vroom! We have a brand new tutorial just for our blog readers. As Father's day is just around the corner we thought we'd show you how to ice one of our most popular tins, the classic car show. Dad is often forgotten about so why not make him feel extra special with these hand iced car biscuits. Before you ice... To start you'll need to bake the biscuits by using our easy vanilla dough recipe, this is the one we use in the bakery everyday! You'll need an oval shaped cutter for the key and a car shaped biscuit cutter. These can be found easily online. You’ll then need to bake your biscuits for 15-20 minutes at 170°C . Using our easy guide, create your line and flood icing. You’ll need to make up six different icing colours: black and red flood icing and black, red, yellow and white line icing. Pour the line icing into four icing bags and you’ll need two squeezy bottles for the flood icing. For the car key... Once the biscuits have completely cooled down you can now begin icing. Using your black line icing, pipe the outline of the car key and button, then leave to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature. Fill the first section with black flood icing and then fill the circle with red flood icing. Pop the biscuits back onto a baking tray and into the oven on the lowest temperature for 40 minutes. Don’t worry, your biscuits wont bake any further, this just helps to dry the icing. Once the biscuits are dry it’s time to add the details. Carefully ice a handle with your white line icing. Ice the stitching, the rim around the button as well as the 'B' with your black line icing. Leave to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature. ![]()

For the car... Using your red line icing, pipe the outline of the car and the window.Don’t forget to leave space for the wheels! These will need to be piped with your black line icing. Fill the car with red flood icing, then fill the windows and the wheel with black flood icing. Be careful not to over fill! Pop the biscuits back onto a baking tray and into the oven on the lowest temperature for 40 minutes. Your biscuits wont bake anymore, this helps to dry the icing. Using the image below as a guide, add your car frame using the red line icing. For the car lights add one yellow dot and one slightly bigger white dot on the bumper of your car. You'll now need to add the frame of your car window, following your original outline of the window use your white line icing to add this back in. To finish car biscuits add detail to the wheels and the door handle, using the yellow and white line icing. Leave to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature. ![]()
