Well, it's back to work and school and we couldn't be more excited for the year ahead. We're full of the joys of new year thinking, but doesn't it feel good to look back on the year you've had? Here are our highlights of 2014...we do love a good trip down memory lane!
Later in the year, we were super surprised and thrilled to win the Licensing Award for Best Food and Drink Product 2014, for the Mr. Men collection.
For Mother's Day we hosted a screen printing class with Thornback & Peel as part of our Icing Lates. Each guest was taught how to screen print and left with a collection of hand-iced biscuits and a hand-made mother's day card.
In April we were commissioned to make a scrumdiddlyumptious chocolate factory entirely from chocolate biscuit to mark the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The gigantic biscuit structure was showcased in Waterstones' flagship store windows on Piccadilly and portrayed iconic scenes from the West-end musical version of the book for crowds to marvel at, and we even had Charlie and Mr. Wonka himself come down to unveil it!
We were totally spoilt for sport this summer and celebrated this in biscuit form. We created a very special collection of biscuits for Royal Ascot and the Tour De France, which finished the last UK leg in London, plus who could forget the World Cup?
Our lovely bosses whisked us off to the Soho House Festival in Richmond for a sunny evening of champers (on tap) and some class performances from Paloma Faith, Jake Bugg, Dizzee Rascal and De la Soul.
Ah the Great British Bake Off... dare we say it's our favourite show?! Well, we couldn't believe our eyes when Semi- finalist Martha Collison paid our Notting Hill boutique a visit for her friend's birthday. They all left with personalised gingerbread men from our Icing Cafe , but she didn't reveal any show secrets.
We were pleased as punch when Biscuiteers won Best Online Retailer at the Investec Food and Drink Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Our founder, Harriet Hastings, received the award at a swanky ceremony at the houses of Parliament!
We launched our Super hero collection just in time for Halloween. We recreated the most famous super heroes in biscuit form, including Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, the Joker, the best of the DC Universe!
In November we announced the opening of our brand new boutique on Northcote Road, Battersea, which has the same look and feel as our original Notting Hill shop with the added theatre of an open kitchen where you can watch our expert icers in action and a larger café area for icing workshops, masterclasses and simply sitting down with a cuppa and a biscuit!
We finished the year with one gigantic biscuit project at Leeds Castle in Kent. The 900 year-old castle is recreated in two enormous hand-iced gingerbread structures: a two metre long doll's house interpretation of the castle and a two and a half metre long model of the whole castle and grounds.
Safe to say, after all that strenuous biscuit making, we were ready for a wee break! But as they say, there's no rest for the wicked, so roll on 2015...
