Happy birthday to us! We're 13 years old, and no birthday would be complete without a birthday cake. Something we happen to know a lot about! For a Biscuiteers twist on a classic, we’ve created these hand iced biscuit pops in the shape of candles. Perfect if you’re having lots of family round. We based the design of these from our happy birthday collection, which is one of our bestsellers.
Place the dough onto your clean worktop. Divide into two and squash the dough into two even-sized flat discs and wrap in cling film. Then place it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Once chilled, place the dough on a sheet of parchment and begin by gently squashing the dough down with a rolling pin. Cover with a second sheet of parchment and roll the dough out.
Cut the dough into 20-24 candles. If you can’t find a cutter, you can always try free hand but using a sharp knife. Place on parchment paper.
Insert a wooden secure into the raw dough and bake as normal.
Bake in the middle of the oven for 14-18 minutes. Then transfer the parchment to a cooling rank.
Cool totally before starting to ice.
Use our flood and line recipe and tutorial create a batch of icing, you'll need pink and yellow gel pastes to create your colours. Then using the hot pink line icing, create your candle design. Use the image below as guide, then leave to dry at room temperature for 10 minutes before starting the flood icing.
Once the iced 'walls' of your biscuit have dried, alternate between white and pink flood icing on your biscuit. Finally using the yellow line icing, create a flame shape at the top of your candle. Pop into the oven at the lowest temperature possible for 30 minutes. This is so the icing on the biscuit can dry completely.
Finally if necessary trim the end of your biscuit pop and add onto your cake!
